The safe and reliable MINI Cooper Hardtop, chosen as the official car of the Miles Ahead Teen Driving program, is available now at MINI of Pittsburgh.
Online PR News – 09-June-2012 – Pittsburgh, PA – Young, inexperienced drivers have an 89.2% chance of being in one crash in their first three years of driving. Due to distractions and unforeseen hazards, 113 teens are involved in fatal car crashes each week and 3,000 teens die every year in motor vehicle collisions. These statistics are real and so is the problem of teen drivers who are improperly trained and uncomfortable on the road.
The Miles Ahead program, in collaboration with MINI USA, was started to address the number of auto crashes and injuries caused by teenage drivers. Miles Ahead is an innovative driving school, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, that focuses on making teens safer drivers. Miles Ahead maximizes the time students spend behind the wheel and puts teen drivers in a controlled environment to help them learn and practice safe driving behaviors and techniques.
Young professional racecar drivers serve as the instructors for this program. The instructors are highly skilled and knowledgeable about car functions and safety. In addition, they are extremely experienced and capable drivers.
MINI is the official car of the Miles Ahead Teen Driving Intensive. Students learn safe driving skills in MINI Cooper Hardtops. With style, safety, efficiency, and handling unlike any other car, MINI is the ideal car for the Miles Ahead program. The combination of being on a race track, being taught by a professional racecar driver, and being behind the wheel of a MINI Cooper leads to one exceptionally memorable experience. Because of this, teen drivers who take the course are more likely to remember the value tips they learn since they enjoyed the experience so much.
Miles Ahead is open to any licensed teenage driver. Preferably students that have had their licenses for at least three to nine months and are familiar with the basics of an automobile should register for the course. More information and class schedules can be found by visiting http://www.bemilesahead.net/TheProgram.aspx . The 2012 class schedule runs from June through August.
