The George Brothers will be inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Gatesville, TX on June 15, 2012.
Online PR News – 06-June-2012 – Harrison, AR – The George Brothers will be officially welcomed into the great state of Texas on June 15, 2012 as Rodger Vierse and the Gatesville City Auditorium inducts the entire band into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
The George Brothers will become the first red dirt “new sound” country music act to be inducted, as well as the first full band, and the first act inducted outside of Texas.
The Gatesville Texas Country Music Hall of Fame was started over 35 years ago by Mike Kunzenka, but was finally made a reality when his assistant, Rodger Vierse took over in 2007. Rodger inducted Mr. Kunzenka as the first Hall of Fame recipient and subsequent acts have included Steve Anderson, Tracy Lawrence, Clifton Jansky, Buddy Ferguson, and Steve Mitchell.
The George Brothers are quickly becoming a favorite among red dirt music fans in Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The release of their first single, “Brothers, Friends, & Outlaws Forever” in January ranked #1 on RadioFreeTexas.org, #1 on IRCountry.com, #10 on BigStar97.com, #11 on the IMN Chart, and was the 4th most downloaded song on CDTex.com. Their second single went to #33 on the Texas Music Charts and #9 on the Independent Country Music Charts. They are endorsed by Pig Trail Harley-Davidson in Rogers, AR; the Rockin’ Pig Saloon in Eureka Springs, AR; Forman Harley-Davidson in Stillwater, OK; and Horny Toad Harley-Davidson in Temple, TX.
By recommendation from promoter Chisai Childs with 99 Promotion, Rodger Vierse and his wife Gloria saw the George Brothers perform at the Ozark Mountain Theater (owned by the George Brothers and their father, Leonard George) as they were passing through Eureka Springs, Arkansas during a trip with Steve Mitchell, America’s Singing Cowboy. Rodger was amazed by the talent and professionalism of the entire cast. He compared Randall George (lead guitar/vocals) to the likes of Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. “These guys really had it going on, and they’ve been working at this their entire lives,” stated Mr. Vierse. “The musicianship was outstanding, the harmonies had a remarkable blend, and even the comedy was fresh and new. I was equally impressed by their original music, the entire CD, and the fact that they wrote 8 of the 10 songs on their album and played all of the instruments. They seemed to have the whole package, and were just genuinely nice guys, too. I wanted them to know how much it meant to us that they still had so much respect for country music even with a unique style of their own. I knew immediately that it would be a big honor for Texas to induct this band into our Country Music Hall of Fame.”
Dawayne George, bass guitar and vocals, said “I was completely in shock when Mr. Vierse asked us if we would consider making the trip to Gatesville to be inducted into their Hall of Fame. I told him to pick the date and we’d be there!” Randall added, “Texas has been really good to us this past year, but this is just amazing. We can’t tell him how much this means to us. It’s just a huge honor.”
The George Brothers perform 6 nights a week in their own theater, the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down in Eureka Springs, AR, which has been running for 31 years. They also tour all over the states during their off season, and are preparing for a national single release and radio tour in August.
The band will leave Eureka Springs right after their show on June 14th, and make the 10 hour trip to Gatesville, TX. They will perform at 7pm on June 15th in the Historic Gatesville City Auditorium and receive their induction into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Their Gatesville performance will be broadcasted on KCYL in Lampasas, TX and will stream live on the Internet to 173 countries. Their induction will be published in several newspapers, radio stations, news channels, and on television stations. They will leave again right after this show and be back in time for another show in Eureka Springs at 7:30pm on June 16th. “That’s just how much these guys love what they do”, said promoter Chisai Childs in her cheerful Texas drawl, “there is no place too far, and no town too big or too small for the George Brothers. They just want to play country music…and they’re darn good at it.”
