MBAUniverse.com, India's leading MBA portal, is organizing year’s most awaited Management event, the 3rd edition of Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2012 on August 9-10 at India International Center in New Delhi. The theme of Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2012 is ‘Survival of the Fittest: Lessons from the Best’.
R C Bhargava headed last IIM Governance Committee, formed by HRD every 10 years, and proposed several recommendations in the year 2008 on bringing administrative reforms in IIMs. Many of his recommendations are being implemented in IIMs now. Bhargava, who is Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Ranchi; and Chairman, Maruti Udyog Limited, will share his deep insight into the changing industry expectations from Management graduates today. He will share his broad perspective on the evolving nature of Market and Economy, and the essential elements that the Management education in India needs to adopt to suit the fast changing industry needs.
Reflecting on the theme, Mr. Amit Agnihotri, Chairman, MBAUniverse.com said, “India is a booming MBA market with 3500+ B-schools and more than 500,000+ students enrolled in various MBA or PGDM programs. However, today, the Indian MBA market is going through a crucial phase of Shake-out & Consolidation. MBAUniverse.com sees this as a painful, but constructive development.”
“To put a spotlight on how B-schools can adapt to the changing environment, the 3rd annual MBAUniverse.com Indian Management Conclave will draw lessons from the best Indian & Global B-schools, that have innovated to survive and thrive,” he said.
R C Bhargava, a former IAS who played a significant role in building what Maruti Udyog Limited is today, also felt that the substandard quality of education in most of the B-schools is creating a huge gap between the demand and supply of the quality MBAs. “I have come to know that more than 3500 B-schools operate in India today. This is good thing but unfortunately, the quality of education at most of these institutes is sub-standard,” he said, adding, “It is becoming difficult for Industry to hire from most of these MBA colleges, as these institutes add very little or no value to the students. I think there is a huge gap in the demand and supply of quality.”
Dr. Pritam Singh, Director-General, IMI & former Director of IIM Lucknow and MDI Gurgaon, will share his deep insight into the emerging challenges in management education and possible ways to come out of the crisis.
