Key West's leading center for information and reservations for the Dry Tortugas, the Dry Tortugas Information Center, is now working with a variety of downtown Key West hotels and guesthouses located walking distance to the two ferry docks
Online PR News – 24-February-2010 – – The Dry Tortugas Information Center, Key West's leading tours and activities center for the Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson, is now working with a variety of downtown Key West hotels and guesthouses to allow their customers to stay walking distance from the two Dry Tortugas ferry docks.
Downtown Key West is known for being extremely pedestrian friendly. Visitors can walk from the Atlantic side of downtown, where the Southernmost Point is located, up to the Gulf side of downtown in a matter of 30 minutes. Both Dry Tortugas and Fort Jefferson ferries dock at the Key West Historic Bight Marina, on the historic side of downtown Key West.
Many small and historic Key West inns are located just blocks from both of the docks. Key West's downtown properties are typically historic mansions that have been restored and converted into guesthouses, offering guests comfortable rooms, tropical pool settings, complimentary breakfast, and access to some of Key West's best spots.
The Dry Tortugas Information Center offers Key West visitors daily trips out to the remote islands of the Dry Tortugas where the massive all-brick Fort Jefferson is found. Two ferries transport a total of 100 passengers daily. Out on the islands, guests can enjoy a Key West snorkeling experience and an informative 45-minute guided tour of Fort Jefferson.
"We get a lot of customers asking us for recommendations on places to stay close to the ferries so we decided to go ahead and start a working relationship with some of our favorite guesthouses," explains Jennie Welch, a reservations agent at the Dry Tortugas Information Center.
The Dry Tortugas day trip and camping trips are known as some of Key West's most unique and interesting excursions. The islands of the Dry Tortugas are also known for having some of the best Key West snorkeling around, where snorkelers can actually swim out to the coral reef gardens right off the beach.
Visitors to the island of Key West Florida who are interested in seeing the famous Dry Tortugas National Park or who need a conveniently-located place to stay in Key West should call the Dry Tortugas Information Center at 1-877-243-2378.
