Susan Story to speak on managing in a slow or flat economy
Online PR News – 14-May-2012 – Burlington, Mass. – President and CEO of Southern Company Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Company, Susan Story, will be a featured panelist at DNV KEMA’s fifth annual Utility of the Future Leadership Forum, “Pathway to excellence.” Story will participate in the first half of the CEO panel “View from the Top: Managing in a Slow or Flat Economy,” during the DNV KEMA forum, May 14–16, 2012, at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Story has worked for Southern Company for more than 30 years, holding a number of executive positions responsible for the full range of utility operations, including power plant retrofits and construction, customer service, power delivery, aircraft fleet, information technology and human resources.
“At Southern Company, customers are at the center of all that we do,” said Story, “so we must be ready to meet their needs. In the Southeast, we expect the demand for electricity to grow as much as 25 percent over the next 20 years. We can prepare for our energy outlook through constructive regulation and healthy capital spending. Southern Company is committed to developing a full portfolio of energy resources, including new nuclear, 21st century coal, natural gas, renewables and energy efficiency. We call that “using all the arrows in the quiver” and have dedicated more than $20 billion to making that energy future a reality.”
The 2012 Utility of the Future Leadership Forum features one and one-half days of discussions about the dynamic changes facing the utility industry and the paths that innovators have taken toward a sustainable energy future. Two CEO panels will explore the challenges of building the future utility in very different economic environments, while other panels will feature topics such as customers at the helm, sustainable power supply, and engaging customers in sustainability. Throughout the forum, there will be high-level networking opportunities to share perspectives, collaborate, and engage in dialog.
Senior executives are invited to join their peers in the Utility of the Future discussion to share ideas and discover opportunities that can help shape a more sustainable, reliable, and profitable utility of the future. Register and learn more about the 2012 Utility of the Future Leadership Forum.
