AIMA Managing India Awards 2012 were conferred on eminent business leaders and other distinguished personalities in New Delhi yesterday.

Online PR News – 21-April-2012 – Noida, UP – AIMA Managing India Awards 2012 were conferred on eminent business organizations, Management leaders and other distinguished personalities including The Aditya Birla Group, The Apollo Group Executive Chairman Prathap C Reddy, ITC Limited Chairman Y C Deveshwar, DMRC Former MD E Sreedharan, Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani, Axis Bank Managing Director and CEO Shikha Sharma, in New Delhi yesterday.

Union Minister for Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Kamal Nath presented winners with trophies at a function in New Delhi.

While Kumar Mangalam Birla was honored with Indian Multinational of the Year Award, Prathap C Reddy was conferred on Lifetime Contribution Award.

Business Leader of the Year award was conferred on Y C Deveshwar, Chairman, ITC Limited, and Corporate Citizen of the Year was given to Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation. E Sreedharan, Former Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was given award in the category of Outstanding Institution Builder.

Kumar Mangalam Birla, while receiving the award, said that Indian companies have proved their global competence and they need more support from the government to emerge as international leaders.

“The success of our many International ventures clearly proves three things: Indian talent is superior to anyone available in any part of the world; Our policy environment is very restrictive, and government must support our industry much more; and finally, Indian companies must make world as their stage. Our time has come," he said.

Prathap C Reddy, Executive Chairman, The Apollo Group, who won the Lifetime Contribution Award, said sectors like Healthcare and Education are now being recognized as a legitimate industry, but added that the overall growth of these sectors still needed support from government and regulators.

“It has taken 30 years for health-care to be recognized as a legitimate industry. Now, Education and Health-care must be made priority in our National Agenda," Reddy said.

Outstanding PSU of the Year – Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (Sudhir Vasudeva, Chairman and Managing Director, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd)

Transformational Business Leader of the Year – Shikha Sharma, Managing Director and CEO, Axis Bank

Director of the Year – Zoya Akhtar, Director, writer, producer

The AIMA Managing India Awards was constituted last year to promote management in every sphere of life and recognize them as a patron of management in fields as varied as commerce, art, and cinema.

“This is a platform to recognize the contributions of stalwarts from different fields, all outstanding performers in their own right, who epitomize strength, ingenuity, knowledge, foresight, who excelled in their respective spheres with vision and inspiration and are worthy of emulation and admiration,” Rekha Sethi, Director General, All India Management Association said.

An eminent panel of jury chaired by Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Immediate Past President, AIMA and Vice Chairman, RPG Enterprises had decided on the winners who were awarded under different categories yesterday.
