Hooker’s House Bourbon a new Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Pinot Noir wine barrels was awarded the Silver Medal in the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition this week. Hooker’s House Bourbon finished in Sonoma($36)750ml bottle, 50% ABV

Online PR News – 11-April-2012 – Sonoma, California – Hooker's House Bourbon was awarded the Silver medal in the Bourbon Whiskey category which is usually dominated by big well known brands and not small craft distillers. Hooker’s House Bourbon is unique because it is aged in neutral Pinot Noir barrels after spending time in new white American Oak barrels. Double barreling the Bourbon enhances the quality spirit with Wine Country influence of dark fruits, cherries and violets on the nose and pallet. Judges found the mash bill produces a sweet and savory balance of Corn and Rye. “The hot days and cool nights of the Carneros are ideal for grape growing and also excellent for aging Bourbon” says Fred Groth Founder of Prohibition Spirits and HelloCello. “The constant expansion and contraction makes the Bourbon ‘breathe’ and gives it life”.

Hooker’s House Bourbon pays respect to the infamous General Joseph Hooker, a Civil War veteran, Sonoma resident, ladies man and whiskey aficionado. The spicy and bold character of Hooker's House Bourbon is matched by General Hooker’s over indulging and sometimes outrageous lifestyle.

The 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition was conducted March 22nd through 25th at the Hotel Nikko in downtown San Francisco. The San Francisco competition is the oldest, largest, and most recognized spirits competition in the United States. More than 1,200 spirits were judged this year from 57 different countries making it the largest competition in history.
