First Annual Dog Walk to Include Free Microchip ID for Pets
Online PR News – 12-April-2012 – Winter Park/Florida – WinterParkLostPets.com announced today that the first annual Winter Park Dog Walk will be presented by Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida and will benefit The Lost Pets Foundation.
The Dog Walk will be held from 8 am until 12 noon at the Cady Way Trail phase 1 in Winter Park. Participants can walk along the trail for as long or short a distance as they wish. “You do not need to bring your dog to participate in the dog walk,” explained Judy Charuhas, event coordinator and co-founder of WinterParkLostPets.com and The Lost Pets Foundation. “Everyone is encouraged to simply come out, enjoy the beautiful Winter Park section of the Cady Way trail, and support a great cause.”
Registration includes a Winter Park Dog Walk t-shirt, a free “Doggie Goodie Bag” filled with products and surprises provided by local merchants, a free raffle ticket for an array of items provided by Winter Park merchants, plus beverages, snacks, and more.
All the proceeds from the $20-per-pet Dog Walk registration fee will benefit The Lost Pets Foundation. “Unlike many walk/run events where each participant pays a registration fee, the whole family can walk with just one $20 donation,” explained Ms Charuhas. Participants can register to walk at www.WPdogwalk.com.
Free Microchips for Pets
Orange County Animal Services will microchip 100 pets at no cost during the Dog Walk. “A microchip ID is one of the most important protections a pet owner can take to ensure their pet is returned safely should it become lost,” said Shelley Heistand, who co-founded WinterParkLostPets.com and The Lost Pets Foundation along with Ms. Charuhas. WinterParkLostPets.com is underwriting the cost of the microchip.
The microchip ID will be provided free to the first 100 registrants who request the service. Walkers can request the microchip when they register online at WPdogwalk.com.
A map of the event location, additional information and registration can also be accessed online at www.WPdogwalk.com.
“We deeply appreciate the support of Veterinary Emergency Clinic of Central Florida and the YMCA in making this event possible,” concluded Ms Charuhas and Ms Heistand.
