PODS of San Diego & KSON co-host toy collection events, April 21 & May 19

Online PR News – 06-April-2012 – San Diego, California – Santa Claus will get a helping hand from PODS® of San Diego when the local moving and storage company teams up with KSON radio to host two upcoming toy collection events to benefit San Diego families who missed the 2011 holiday season due to the deployment of their loved ones.

On two Saturdays, April 21 and May 19, from 2 – 5 p.m., PODS® containers will be placed at participating San Diego County Rubio’s restaurants. The public will be encouraged to stop by help fill them with donated toys that will then be distributed by the San Diego Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) at their sixth annual “Christmas You Missed" celebration on June 25, 2012.
On April 21, PODS will accept toy donations at the Rubio’s in Vista, 1711 University Drive, #110, and, on May 19, Rubio’s Mission Valley, 2075-A Camino De La Reina, will serve as the toy collection site.
Each year, the ASYMCA invites over 500 San Diego service members and their families who missed the holidays to a popular Christmas recreation event. “The Christmas You Missed” provides military families a belated chance to enjoy the magic of the holiday season at a festive party that includes food, music, presents, prizes and a visit from everyone’s favorite North Pole visitor.

“We are grateful to PODS for helping us to collect and distribute toys to the children of our military families,” said Corey Arkush, Director of Active Duty Programs at San Diego ASYMCA. “It is very gratifying when the local business community steps up and gives back to those in uniform who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.”
