John Cabot, an American liberal arts University in Rome, Italy celebrates 40 years in providing an educational experience firmly rooted in the American tradition of the liberal arts to degree seeking and study abroad students from over 50 countries.
Online PR News – 06-April-2012 – Rome – JCU is proud to join in the worldwide celebrations of the centennial of composer John Cage’s birth by hosting John Cage Day on April 13th.
In collaboration with the Department of History and Humanities, and as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, John Cabot University has the honor of welcoming German violoncellist Ulrike Brand, a collaborator of John Cage, who commissioned the work One12 for the Quaderni Perugini di Musica Contemporanea in 1992. Brand will present an introduction to John Cage, followed by a concert for violoncello solo.
The main event of the John Cage Day will be an interactive workshop for students in the preparation and performance of John Cage’s Variations under the guidance of Ulrike Brand. The performance of this work involves complex spatial relationships between performers as specified by Cage’s instructions.
