‘James Bond’ superyacht stars at successful Palm Beach Boat Show

Diamonds Are Forever, Benetti’s 60.95 metres-long motor yacht, starred alongside a $2 million craft which sold at last weekend’s Palm Beach International Boat Show.

Online PR News – 01-April-2012 – Palm Beach – Exhibitor spending and attendance were both up at this year’s 27th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show (March 22-25), led by the sale of a $2 million superyacht.

Yachting Pages, the ‘Captain’s Bible’ for the superyacht industry, is proud to have been involved with the event which is one of the top 10 boat shows in the US.

The directory partnered with the United States Superyacht Association (USSA) to bring visitors copies of Yachting Pages.

Meanwhile, the Palm Beach International Boat Show was a success. There were more serious buyers this year according to general consensus from the exhibition floor. Overall attendance was also up 12% on last year, said organisers.

‘Diamonds Are Forever’ in the superyacht industry

While the $2m yacht sale was impressive, it wouldn’t buy you a fifth of Diamonds Are Forever.

The 60.95m Diamonds Are Forever motor yacht, belonging to the Honda impresario and serial-yacht owner John Staluppi, was among the Palm Beach International Boat Show’s top exhibitions.

With a dollar value well into the hundred-millions, Diamonds Are Forever (officially identified as Benetti FB253 60mt) was custom-built and engineered by the Benetti shipyard of Livorno, Italy.

Staluppi bought the boat while she was only half-built. His trusted designer Evan K Marshall then completed the project based on Benetti’s architecture.

Named after another of Staluppi’s great passions, the 1971 James Bond film adventure starring Sean Connery as agent ‘007’, Diamonds Are Forever was launched in November 2011.

Superyacht luxury for both guests and crew

Guests can enjoy four “palatial” en-suite staterooms on the ship’s lower deck, a VIP stateroom and panoramic upper deck.

Diamonds Are Forever is also designed so its crew can supply the highest levels of service while enjoying spacious accommodation for the Captain and engineer, six twin crew cabins and a large mess.

Beneath the boat’s steel and aluminium exterior are Twin Caterpillar 3512HD engines which power her at a 15 knots cruise speed, to a range of 4,800 miles.
