Outspoken broadcaster to solve Britain‚Äôs big problems in a series of free ‚ÄėAfter Dark‚Äô style political discussion podcasts
Online PR News – 23-February-2012 – – London 20.02.12: Sony Award-winning broadcaster James Whale is hoping to provide a cure for political apathy in the UK by recording and releasing a series of free discussion-show style podcasts.
‚ÄėThe James Whale Manifesto - Getting Britain Back on Track in 2012‚Äô, a format being produced and distributed by leading radio indie Wise Buddah, will allow the outspoken presenter and two specially chosen studio guests to provide outlandish solutions to the big issues facing the UK in 2012.
Described by Whale as being somewhere between a ‚Äúverbal newspaper column‚ÄĚ and an audio version of TV‚Äôs After Dark ‚Äúbut without the alcohol‚ÄĚ, each of the 30-minute podcasts will debate an individual topic such as race relations, war, the monarchy, the environment and other long-running issues that keep the British public awake at night.
‚ÄúWith the UK going to hell in a handcart I want to encourage people to take part in debate about the state of the country,‚ÄĚ said Whale. ‚ÄúSomeone has got to start the ball rolling. I was even toying with the idea of calling it James Whale‚Äôs Cabinet because MPs could really learn something from listening to some of the people that we put together and the discussions we will have.‚Äú
Discussing the reasons for making the debates available as podcasts he said:
‚ÄúYou can say things when you‚Äôre podcasting that you cannot say when you‚Äôre broadcasting. It‚Äôs not a radio show. It‚Äôs more like eves dropping on people sitting around talking. It‚Äôs the audio equivalent of TV‚Äôs After Dark.‚ÄĚ
Wise Buddah, the company behind the ‚ÄėJames Whale Manifesto‚Äô, hopes that the podcasts will not only provide a slap in the face for political empathy in this country but also extend Whale‚Äôs appeal beyond his established broadcast radio listeners.
Wise Buddah Head of Content Simon Willis said: ‚ÄúExpect a lot more from where this came from. This is just the beginning of compelling content designed specifically for a digital Britain‚ÄĚ
‚ÄėThe James Whale Manifesto - Getting Britain Back on Track in 2012‚Äô is a joint venture between Wise Buddah‚Äôs Talent division, which represents Whale, and Wise Buddah‚Äôs Content department.
The first podcast in the series, which covers the issue of austerity, is available now for free from the iTunes Store: http://itun.es/iSj5rC
A dedicated twitter account, @THEJamesWhale, and website, http://www.jameswhale.co.uk, will dovetail with the podcast.
