Announcing a 2012 Lightning Stakes form guide for Black Caviar's next race and a comparison table of the best available odds on offer.
Online PR News – 17-February-2012 – aus – The ‘Wonder from down Under’ Black Caviar's next race will take place on Lightning Stakes Day, and with a victory she would move to nineteen straight wins from the start of her career while matching two records considered unbeatable, much like the super sprinter herself.
To celebrate this history making horse race Punters Paradise is providing a Lightning Stakes Day form guide with detailed profiles for every runner attempting to dethrone the ‘Queen of the Sport of Kings’, a comparison table of the best available odds on offer, an interactive Lightning Stakes preview forum and more.
The Lightning Stakes is a 1000 metre Group One weight-for-age sprint that offers prize money totaling $750,000.
The 2012 Lightning Stakes jumps off on Saturday the 18th of February at the prestigious Flemington racecourse at 4:10pm Sydney time (12:10am USEST, 5:10am GMT), and features a nine horse field led by reigning champion Black Caviar, who won the event by 3.25 lengths last year.
With a victory in the Lightning Stakes, Black Caviar would tie the Australasian record for consecutive wins set by Gloaming and Desert Gold over ninety years ago, while matching the modern era mark of nineteen consecutive metro and stakes wins from a start of a career held by the legendary American mare Zenyatta.
Black Caviar enters as the 2012 Lightning Stakes odds favourite, priced to win in the $1.12-$1.16 range. The longest odds assigned to Black Caviar since the 2011 Newmarket Handicap, during which she carried a record setting 58kgs to victory at a price in the $1.22 range.
Next up is the Glyn Schofield ridden Hay List, priced to win in the $9.00 range, with the Nash Rawiller ridden Foxwedge rounding out the top three priced to win in the $18.00 plus range.

Among the Lightning Stakes rivals seeking to stop Black Caviar’s unbeaten streak include:
- Multiple Group One winner Hay List (2011 All Aged Stakes, 2010 Manikato Stakes), who’s run second to Black Caviar in three of their four contests, including the T J Smith Stakes where Black Caviar was forced to chase Hay List down the straight to gain a 2.5 length victory.
- Fastnet Rock filly Foxwedge, who nearly gave multiple Group One winner Sepoy his first loss in the past six starts, when she finished within a neck’s length of the Sepoy during the $500,000 Coolmore Stud Stakes this past October.
- The rested Mossman gelding Buffering, who placed second just 2.75 lengths behind Black Caviar during the 1200 metre Group One $1million Patinack Farm in his last start this past November.
- Short track specialist Temple Of Boom, who’s won three out of five starts down the Flemington straight, and has a record of four wins and a place in six career starts at 1000 metres.
Black Caviar enters the Lightning Stakes on just one week’s rest having won the C F Orr Stakes by 3.75 lengths, while setting a modern day Orr Stakes record for the largest odds disparity ($13.95) between her and her next closest rival, 2011 Cox Plate winner Southern Speed.
These remarkable accomplishments, and other key facts, can be found in the Free Punters Paradise Black Caviar form. A form that includes a detailed record of each of her races, track performances, margin of victory, analysis of past races, preview of upcoming events and more.
Should she continue her winning ways, her trainer Peter G. Moody has indicated that Black Caviar’s next start could take place in the Futurity Stakes just one week later.
Should she need a brief spell, Black Caviar could contest the William Reid in March, before beginning her world tour which is likely to commence with the Royal Ascot $600,000 Golden Jubilee on the 23rd of June.
