The website includes a number of new features, including expanded industry coverage, more rail resources, and five years of searchable content.
The site features 12 content categories covering a wide variety of rail topics and more than 5,500 stories from previous issues of Railway Age print and online archives. The categories include: News, Freight Rail, Intermodal, Passenger, Mechanical, Maintenance-of-way, Communications & Signaling, Operations, Safety, PTC, Finance/Leasing, and Regulatory.
The new site is designed to increase reader engagement and improve the reader experience through social media integration, the ability to comment on stories, and interactive blogs with RSS feeds.
"The relaunch and redesign of RailwayAge.com represents a true extension of our brand,"Railway Age Publisher Jonathan Chalon said. "The new site is designed to make RailwayAge.com a true destination for the latest rail industry news."
With the relaunch of the site, five new blogs were launched. The bloggers include Railway Age editors William Vantuono and Doug Bowen, veteran transportation journalist and commentator Larry Kaufman, investigative journalist and transportation consultant Lyndon Henry, and Roy Blanchard, principal of The Blanchard Company.
In conjunction with the site's relaunch, a number of new advertising opportunities were introduced. The advertising options include exclusive channel sponsorships that enable advertisers to position themselves in a high-quality editorial environment.
