Glendale Colorado’s Infinity Park was named Field of the Year 2009 in the Sporting Grounds category by the Sports Turf Managers Association. Infinity Park is the only municipally owned rugby stadium in the country.

The award winning rugby pitch at Infinity Park will also be featured in a 2010 article in Sports Turf Magazine, the industry’s premier publication.  Josh Bertrand, Infinity Park, Glendale, CO earned the Sporting Ground Field of the Year Award in the Schools and Parks category and was recently honored during the 21st Annual Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) Conference and Exhibition at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Nine STMA Field of the Year winners were honored at this Annual Awards banquet.  The STMA Field of the Year Award program began in 1992 and there are five field types for which awards may be given: Baseball, Football, Soccer, Softball and Sporting Grounds. For each field type, awards may be given in three categories: Professional, College and University, and Schools and Parks.

A panel of seven judges independently scored each entry based on the playability and appearance of the playing surfaces, innovative solutions, effective use of budget, and the development and implementation of a comprehensive, sound agronomic program.

Infinity Park Turf Manager Josh Bertrand: “We had almost 500 hours of activities on the pitch this year.  The industry standard for most high quality fields is no more than 400 hours of use.  Without the bells and whistles of other high profile fields, such as Invesco Field at Mile High or Coors Field, our success stems from our coaches taking ownership of the pitch -  rotating practices during the week and minimizing use in inclement weather.”

“Infinity Park has fantastic grounds. Back home I play in the Premiership and it would wipe the floor with many a grounds. Fantastic to play on; it held firm; good pitch.”
