O P Jindal Global University announces the launch of Jindal Global Business School, which is set to commence its first academic session from August, 2010

O. P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit global University established by the Haryana Private Universities (Second Amendment) Act, 2009 at Sonipat, Haryana (NCR of Delhi) through a generous philanthropic initiative of Mr. Naveen Jindal (Chancellor, JGU). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified JGU as a private university established by the state legislature of Haryana. JGU has the following objectives, i.e., fostering global programmes, global curriculum, global research, global collaborations, and global interaction through a global faculty. This will enable India to become a provider of global education and become a leader in the transnational knowledge economy.

Online PR News – 03-February-2010 – – In the current academic year, JGU has established the Jindal Global Business School (JGBS). The vision of JGBS is to impart global business education to equip students, managers and professionals with necessary knowledge, acumen and skills to effectively tackle challenges faced by business and industry. JGBS, India’s first multi-disciplinary global business school, is situated on a state of the art 54-acre, fully residential JGU campus. JGBS has established research centres which will proactively work on cutting edge global business issues ranging from social entrepreneurship to green technologies and wealth creation and family business.

JGBS will offer multi-disciplinary global business education to foster academic excellence, Industry partnerships and global collaborations. JGBS will conduct research, offer global programme and host international conferences and workshops on issues that affect the corporate world. This global initiative has received wide spread encouragement and support in India and abroad as reflected in the collaborations and partnerships that have already been established.JGBS has formed a distinguished Board of International Advisors. These include leading faculty from LBS, INSEAD, IMD, NYU, Said Business School, Oxford and other leading business schools from Canada, Brazil, Russia and Israel and China.

JGBS has also established a distinguished Corporate Advisory Board in which very senior executives from the business world are members who will facilitate joint case research, help bring industry best practices and support industry interactions for students in the form of internships and placements. An important component of the MBA programme will be a global immersion module which students will be able to pursue at our partnering business schools.

The newly appointed faculty members of JGBS have outstanding academic records, work experience and educational qualifications from universities and business schools in India (like IITs and IIMs) and around the world, including USA, Canada, UK and Europe. JGBS also plans to equip its students with hands on real time learning experience by including entrepreneurial start up ventures as a part of the curriculum where some percentage of seed capital will be provided by the institution. Another key differentiator for Jindal Global Business School would be its emphasis on research activities to undertake case studies specific to the dynamics of the Indian economy.

Professor C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, O P Jindal Global University (JGU) launched theschool’s brochure for the inaugural academic session starting in August, 2010 with a full time,residential 2 Year MBA degree programme.

Admissions to the two year programme will be through CAT-2009 for Indian students and for NRI and international students through GMAT. JGBS will also be offering merit scholarships and fellowships to deserving students.
