“Unplugged”, a collection of acoustic tracks, some stripped down versions of those that featured on Outside Looking On, includes a haunting version of Water’s Edge and some new songs (Tomorrow’s Another Day, Something I Don’t Know, What’s The Point On Looking Back, Tired Of Tryin’) that give an indication of the direction the Simon’s second album is heading.

Described by Hotpress as being “infectious and inventive, with brilliant vocals", ‘Unplugged’ seems a fitting accomplishment to Simon’s debut EP, Hired and Fired and more recent album.

And according to Huffington post, "I love it when I hear something this compelling and recognize it on a first listen,” is an unmerited endorsement of Simon’s new EP that’s seems destine becoming “a real master piece…,” according to Bananna Peel Radio.

Michele McManmon of the LA Indie Music Examiner also described ‘Unplugged’ as a "Jammin', spiritual, folky rhythms wrapped in uplifting lyrics. Simon Fagan is smashing up the Indie scene one jam at a time."

Generally, however, many have seen Fagan’s sound as an Americana sound synthesized with elements of Gospel, folk and acoustic rock, and favorable compared it to Ryan Adams, Ray Lamontagne and Paolo Nuttini.

“The truth is… I grew up on a diet of Credence, Van Morrison, Miles Davis, Lizzy, Pink Floyd, and some Stevie for good measure. However, my influences stretch well beyond these icons,” noted Simon, whose background includes stints in his parish choir at aged 5, local brass band aged 7, National Youth Orchestra and both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. During this period Simon sang in a number of original bands in both Dublin and Glasgow.

Simon’s debut EP 'Hired and Fired', released in March 2009, was heavily influenced by his classical training, featuring brass and woodwind. “As I started touring the EP my sound naturally moved away from the brass heavy arrangements and towards a more acoustic rock sound,” said Simon, claiming that much of the new material he was writing, were more acoustic based and didn't benefit from adding brass or woodwind.

Fagan went onto release his debut album 'Outside Looking In’ in June 2010, which included live favourites such as ‘Damn Honey’ and ‘Water’s Edge’, and the International Songwriting Competition winning gem ‘Never Really Cried’.
Currently residing in Berlin, Simon is busy writing and performing. What’s clear from his new Unplugged EP, he is moving towards a more stripped down sound.

Simon Fagan is an award winning singer/songwriter born and raised in Ireland, now based in Berlin. After the release of his critically claimed debut album in June 2010, Simon has been winning fans on both sides of the Atlantic, one gig at a time.
