The research also reveals that around a quarter of the world’s shoppers are happy to use a mobile rather than cash or credit cards to actually make retail purchases, but this figure falls to only around 10% in the UK, where we are only just beginning to fully embrace this technology. However, as NFC (Near Field Communications) technology becomes more commonplace, this figure can only increase, especially as the UK already has one of the highest rates for electronic payment - around 72%, according to the Centre for Retail Research.
