Running from 3rd to 7th April 2012, WATEX 2012 is the 5th International Exhibition for Water Technology and is being held at Damascus International Fairground.
Online PR News – 12-December-2011 – – The fairground is easily accessible from hotels in Damascus City Centre via a short taxi ride. The exhibition is organised by the Syrian International Marketing Association and focuses on new water technologies in this part of the world, where access to water is an ongoing concern. Of particular interest to professionals involved in water conservation, environmental management, recycling, eco-auditing, research institutes and environmental consultancies, the exhibition will focus on key emerging trends in the sector. These include water reclamation, water storage reservoirs, desalination plants, water purification, water distribution networks, irrigation and water management.
The Syrian government are very keen to extend their water treatment facilities and sanitary provision and this exhibition provides an excellent opportunity for overseas contractors to showcase their technologies as the country depends heavily on international expertise to build and operate water management systems.
Syria uses an enormous amount of water for agriculture, nearly 80% of its resources, leaving a mere 16% for industrial use and less than 4% for domestic drinking water. Scarcity of drinking water is a real issue for Syria’s population and the country is keen to change the balance of how water is used. The country is looking for new ideas to encourage its agricultural producers to employ modern irrigation techniques, rather than the more traditional methods, which waste vast quantities of water. At present, modern irrigation techniques cover a mere 20% of the country’s agricultural production.
As well as exhibitor stalls showcasing latest advances the exhibition will feature a number of seminars from leading figures involved in water technologies.
