Written by author Robert Fowler, ‘Flood’ is a gripping story about desire, love, jealousy and hatred
Online PR News – 09-December-2011 – – Herts, UK (November, 2011) – Short story author, Robert Fowler announces the release of his first novel ‘Flood’.
Born in June 1954, today author Robert Fowler is married with one daughter and lives in Hertfordshire. He left school at the age of 15 to work in a warehouse that sold plumbing and heating supplies. He still is actively running his own plumbing supplies company which was started back in the year 1988. Despite living with Ankylosing Spondylitis, Crohn’s disease and having faced four hip replacements at a young age, this has not deterred him to keep up with his love for football. He has coached and managed football for both adult and children’s teams for thirty years. Writing a book is another feather in his cap. His Italian mother and family in Florence have influenced his writing. He is most comfortable writing fiction. To date Robert Fowler has written four short stories and four novels, but Flood, a Historical Fiction Book is his first novel to be published.
Even at the age of 57 and living with so many health problems, Robert Fowler works for ten to twelve hours every single day. Moreover, having spent half of his life visiting Stanmore Hospital has made him all the more humble, which is truly an inspiration.
Flood is based on the event of the great flood of Florence but Robert has added fictional characters to it. The novel set in 1966, tells the story of Chris a 17 year old boy from England whose life is turned upside-down in a short space of time. Chris moves to Florence with his neurotic mother and is forced to live with yet another of her boyfriends. Chris finds a true friend in art student Gina and falls in love with her beauty and gentleness. When the river Arno breaks its banks after a period of continuous rainfall, Chris sets out to search for Gina. In his journey to find her, he witnesses the suffering of the people in the devastated city. Overwhelmed by the ruin and devastation she sees, Gina is determined to help rescue efforts at the main library to save 500 years of history; Chris whose health is rapidly deteriorating refuses to leave her side. That night changed their lives forever.
This book is released in November, 2011 and is published by Vanguard Press, can be purchased for £8.99.
