Aston Martin Racing will return to Le Mans with two Works LMP1 cars with on-going support from Technical Partner ITT KONI, continuing a four year relationship into 2010 and 2011.

Having collaborated with Aston Martin Racing for the past four years with previous race-winning car the DBR9, which was decorated with Le Mans class victory in both 2007 and 2008, Koni has confirmed its extended support for the next two years covering all Aston Martin race vehicles in addition to LMP1, as KONI will also be fitted to Aston Martins competing in the GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 classes.

This year the two Aston Martin LMP1, displayed in the iconic blue and orange Gulf Oil livery will return to Le Mans in search of outright victory having exceeded all expectations at La Sarthe in 2009 by finishing fourth overall and crossing the finish line as the first petrol-powered car.

George Howard-Chappell, team principal of Aston Martin Racing, said; “ITT KONI has been a long-standing Partner of the team. From my point of view, KONI produces the best competition products. The units are always reliable and the engineering team is very responsive when it comes to redesigning the dampers for our needs.”

Frits Altorf, KONI’s product manager for racing, added: “Competing in the world’s premier racing sectors provides KONI the perfect platform to display our ability to provide high performance products, which assists the representation of our after market products. Being a Technical Partner to Aston Martin Racing underlines this objective and we are proud to be part of such a driven and performing team.”
