Online PR News – 15-January-2010 – – JACKSONVILLE, FL January 15, 2010 – Florida Governor Charlie Crist made it a priority to meet with Football Fanatics while visiting Jacksonville to congratulate the company on the positive impact they are having on the community. Football Fanatics employment growth has averaged 25% per year since 2006 and they expect continued growth in 2010.
“We are extremely proud of our year over year growth, hard working employees and the ability to make a significant impact on the community. It is an honor Governor Crist took notice of our success and spent time with our employees,” commented Brian Swallow, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Football Fanatics.
Football Fanatics has evolved from a small retail store since it began in 1995, into one of the top internet retailers offering a wide variety and huge assortment of sports merchandise from high quality brands such as Reebok, Nike and adidas, among others. Additionally, TeamFanShop, a division of Football Fanatics, is a leading provider of private label e-commerce solutions for some of the biggest names in sports and sports media.
Governor Crist toured the offices and warehouse before taking the time to address questions from employees, even including ones about his college football playing days at Wake Forest.
“Football Fanatics is making a lot of people happy. I’m proud of the success you’re having, great spirit, and people [employees] seem happy about what they’re doing. It’s uplifting to be here,” remarked Governor Crist.
Football Fanatics strives to develop employees and believes the key to a successful work force is to encourage innovation and teamwork. This philosophy seems to be working as Football Fanatics boasts an impressively high retention rate.
“Governor Crist’s visit was very special to me because I have seen Football Fanatics progress from a small room in the back of a mall into where we are today,” said Creative Director Tom Ascher who has been working at Football Fanatics for 11 years. “It was great to be able to share our passion for what we do with Governor Crist, who is also a sports fan, and for him to recognize our business and community accomplishments.”
