The 2011 Champion Stakes is held on British Champions Day at Ascot as one of six contests in Britain’s richest race day including two Group 1 events. A day where prize money totaling £3million ($4.7 million AUD) will be up for grabs with many of Europe’s top runners, jockeys and trainers competing.
The Champion Stakes is one of two Group 1 events on British Champions day, the other being the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
The Champion Stakes at Ascot is a 10-furlong (2000m) event that offers prize money totaling £1,300,000 ($2,008,800 AUD). The Champion Stakes, race number 5, is set to jump off Saturday the 15th of October at 4:10pm GMT (2:10am AUEST Sunday morning).
The field includes twelve top runners led by So You Think, who's seeking to atone for a disappointing fourth place finish less than a fortnight ago in Europe's most prestigious race, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
So You Think finished 5 1/2 lengths off the winner Danedream in the $5.5 million AUD Arc de Triomphe, and will be looking for his fifth win on European soil since being purchased by the Coolmore Stud Group in November of 2010.

Boosted by the return of top English jockey Ryan Moore, and back to a preferred distance of 2000 metres, the Aidan O'Brien trained So You Think is the Champion Stakes odds favourite priced to win in the $3.50 range.
So You Think is followed by the John Gosden trained King George winner Nathaniel, who’s win odds are in the $5.00 range, with the Sir Henry Cecil trained Midday priced to win in the $7.00 range. Two time Champion Stakes winner the Sir Henry Cecil trained Twice Over, and the Ed Dunlop trained Arc de Triomphe third place-getter Snow Fairy, round out the top five with win odds in the $8.00 range.
The rest of the Champion Stakes field includes the Mahmood Al Zarooni trained Dubai Prince along with stable mate Casamento, Green Destiny, Ransom Note, Sri Putra, Wigmore Hall and the French raider Cirrus Des Aigles.
