Finlay Plant Northern has supplied two Tesab 623CT Impact Crushers to W & M Thompson Quarries in the North of England, to bring enhanced versatility and productivity at the sites.
Online PR News – 06-October-2011 – – The machinery is being used to process construction aggregates at the company’s carboniferous limestone quarry in Cumbria - as well roadstone aggregates and agricultural lime at their magnesium limestone quarry in Durham.
At Cumbria, W & M Thompson Quarries introduced the new Tesab machine to replace an old, larger impact crusher, which could not produce end products to a small enough grade.
The Tesab 623CT is able to offer a more precise approach, to produce smaller, single-sized aggregates. This is achieved through adjustment of the aperture of the crusher’s cradle – which can be set at whatever parameter is required.
It is currently creating two end products, granular sub-base and material screened to 20 mm and 10 mm single size, for concrete plants and construction industry use.
Over at the company’s Durham site, magnesium limestone is processed for roadstone aggregates and agricultural lime, which is then sold to farmers across North Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, Cumbria and Scotland, as well as being exported to Europe.
This represents a new market opportunity for the quarry, with the Tesab 623CT able to provide a highly accurate method of reducing the magnesium limestone to 3mm down to zero, to create agricultural lime.
Eddie Collins is the Quarry Operations Manager for W & M Thompson Quarries at both the Durham and Cumbria sites. He said: “We have dealt with Finlay Plant Northern for over twenty years and have always received good service.
“They are always very helpful and will talk through a project and come up with a solution. If we ever have a breakdown the engineers will be here the same or next day.
“We picked the Tesab to produce the size of the aggregate needed for the specialist markets we are moving into and for its versatility of being able to produce the different size aggregates.”
At both sites the Tesab 623CT is proving easy to erect and adjust, highly efficient and operator friendly. Although usually located in one place, the machine is on tracks making it easy to clean underneath.
Charlie Nairn, a director of Finlay Plant Northern, said: “We have a long standing relationship with Thompsons, and they have hired machines from us for a good number of years.
“The Tesab 623CT Impact Crusher offers them the best and most economical way of producing the materials that they require for their customers.”
