Shouts of jubilation resounded when the team from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) was announced the ‘Most Outstanding Team in Culinary’ at the recent Culinaire Malaysia 2011. The Centre beat more than 1,000 participants from Germany, China, Taiwan, Korea, Nepal, Macau, Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia, for the title.

Online PR News – 02-October-2011 – – The Centre also took home the ‘Most Outstanding Bartender’, ‘Most Outstanding Chef’ and ‘Iron Butcher Chef of the Year 2011’ awards as well as Champions in the Crystal Ice Masterpiece Team Challenge and Chef’s Gourmet Battle Team Challenge in both culinary and bartending categories.

Seen as Malaysia’s finest culinary challenge, Culinaire Malaysia recognises chefs for their outstanding culinary skills and displays of technique and creativity in food presentation. The bi-annual event, now in its 10th edition, was held alongside Food & Hotel Malaysia (FHM). The Centre is the host venue for the event which was held from 20 – 23 September, 2011.

“The excellent results achieved at Culinaire Malaysia 2011 are a testament of the impressive culinary talents and capabilities of the Centre’s 51 chefs. Our successes reflect the passion and determination of each and every member of the culinary brigade and the support and confidence of top management,” said a beaming Chef Richmond Lim, Executive Chef, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Boasting the largest commercial kitchen in Malaysia with 3,157 sq metres and advanced kitchen technologies such as the Cook-and-Chill process, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre can serve up to 6,000 meals per day.
