Cairn Energy, Infosys on honour list
Online PR News – 29-September-2011 – – Bengaluru, India: Project Management Institute (PMI) India at its recently held National Conference 2011, in Bengaluru honoured the best projects in India and contribution to the community by corporate India with the PMI India awards. The awards were part of PMI’s effort to recognize these as efforts towards nation building which was also the theme of the national conference, this year.
Held under the theme, “Architecting Project Management for nation building", the conference focused on the role of Project Management in Nation building and also demonstrated how to drive innovation, improve bottom-line performance and develop competitive advantage.
The Vijaipur Dadri Bawana Pipeline project of GAIL India was the winner of the PMI India project of the year award. The award was given away by Mr. Mark Langley,President and CEO, PMI Worldwide. The runner up for the PMI India project of the year award was Cairn Energy India Pty for its Mangala Development pipeline project.
While the PMI award for contribution to the community went to Infosys for the Sneham Shiksha Project which is part of Infosys Chennai’s CSR wing, Mr. Ricardo Triana, Director, PMI Board Member gave the award on behalf of PMI India.
Commenting on the award the GAIL spokesperson said “The Vijaipur Dadri Bawana pipeline was one of the complex projects executed by GAIL Project team in terms of the size, terrain and number of obstacle crossings. Many challenges were faced during execution which was tackled systematically. The completion ensured capacity enhancement for natural gas supply especially to customers in northern India leading to further industrialization and economic development. The Project Team was very much delighted and motivated after the successful completion of this project as supply of eco-friendly fuels aids sustainable development.”
This concept of recognizing projects by PMI at the National level provides an excellent platform to portray the Project Management Skills, Competence of team members, Project Management Processes & Systems adopted to execute large complex projects amid uncertainty to the delight and satisfaction of all stakeholders and customers.
This award would further boost the confidence of GAIL project team to take up even bigger challenges in the ongoing and future projects. The project team is confident that new benchmarks would be created while the projects are completed faster with better quality within the approved costs.
Delighted to receive the award a spokesperson from Cairn said that “This is an acknowledgement from our peers and a global body on Cairn’s expertise for the conceptualisation, development and execution of the world’s longest continuously heated and insulated pipeline for transporting crude from the Mangala Processing Terminal in Rajasthan to Salaya on the Gujarat coast. This project has put India on the global oil and gas infrastructure map and would go a long way in enhancing the energy security of the country, helping scale up crude delivery and supply.”
The three-day PMI National Conferencehad an illustrious panel of speakers in attendance. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam inaugurated the conference, while Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys, delivered the valedictory address.
