Bangalore, September 28, 2011: Students outshine with their brilliant creativity and technical talent at Prakalpa, the Technical fest of PES Institutions. Around 70 stalls were set up at their Banashankari campus which exhibited the best projects of the students with unique concepts, bright ideas, their capabilities and inventiveness. The fest witnessed participation from various multidisciplinary departments of PES Institute of Technology (PESIT) and PES School of Engineering (PESSE) along with twenty major industry players who supported and shared their innovative ideas with students. Also it created a platform for PES alumni to exhibit their entrepreneurial expertise to the students and the industry. ‘Prakalpa’ was initiated in the year 2009 as an effort to identify and motivate the talent of the students and recognize their ability and potential in the technical field.
Abhishek Gupta, and Disha Deep bagged the First Prize for their project on Wireless Protection of Transformer and Wireless Billing while Akshatha Aithal and Aishwarya S Kangath received the second prize for their project on Classification of Cardiac Disorders using Phonocardiogram. The third prize was awarded to a project on Active Noise Control by Akhila P, Kamini K.J. and Jahnavi K.R. K. P. Nagarjun received a special prize on his project on Laser Writer for Fabrication of MEMS.
The award for the project on best ‘Technological Impact’ was given to Manasa M and Anthony Joseph, Aliasgar for their excellent concept of Self Balancing Two Wheeler. A project on Speech Based Search Engine for the Visually Impaired by Nisarga M, Suhas P Bhkardwaj, and Vinay K N won the award for best ‘Social Impact’ project. A unique idea on Construction and Testing of Microbial Fuel Cell Using Sewage Water by Harish J, Navaneeth KJM, Ambarisha NT and Kiran GS bagged the prize for project on best ‘Environmental Impact’.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Jawahar, CEO of PES Institutions said “We are indeed glad to see the talent, idea and ability of our students. The projects and their thoughts on them were extraordinary. Such fest will lead to healthy competition by providing an excellent platform to the students to exhibit their technical talent and ideas. This would help the students in empowering their entrepreneurship skills and mould them to be experts in their field of technology.”
The eminent panel of judges included Dr.Ramesh - Lab Group Manager(R&D),General Motors, Dr. Raghava Rau - Programme Manager, Dell, Dr.Nicholas – Deputy Director(LEOS),ISRO and Dr. Biju Jacob - Director, Center for Innovation & Community Empowerment (INCITE TBI), Narayana Hrudayala Hospitals. Attractive prize money was distributed to the winners of the fest.
