Online PR News – 21-September-2011 – – Badminton fans of all ages can rejoice â€“ as the 2011 KumpooÂ® Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold tournament brings world-class badminton talent to Macaoâ€™s CotaiArena from Tuesday, November 29 to Sunday, December 4.
Officially sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the tournament received entries from 25 countries and regions last year, with around 400 players and officials coming to participate, many of whom currently rank in the worldâ€™s top 20. Some of Asiaâ€™s most well-known players participated, including Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia, Lee Hyun-il and Lee Yong Dae from Korea, Ponsana Boonsak from Thailand and many more.
The Macau Open has been a high-standard international badminton tournament since 2006. This yearâ€™s tournament is a BWF Level 3 event and will award around MOP 1,600,000 in total prize money. The tournament will consist of five brackets: Menâ€™s and Womenâ€™s Singles, Menâ€™s and Womenâ€™s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
This yearâ€™s sponsors are Japanese badminton manufacturing company KumpooÂ® and the Macau Sport Development Board, with the tournament being organized by the Badminton Federation of Macau.
The entry deadline for players is November 1, 2011. The draws will be done by BWF on November 15. The tournament Referee and Deputy Referee are Charlotte Ackermann from the United States and Ronny De Vos from Belgium, respectively.
Tickets go on sale September 22, and are available for purchase on the first floor of Sands Macao and at the CotaiArenaTM box office, and can also be booked online at www.CotaiTicketing.com or by phone at +853 2882 8818 (Macau) and +852 6333 6660 (Hong Kong).
