"Back To College" Data Presented as Graphic Pages Shared Widely on Web
Online PR News – 20-September-2011 – – A series of infographics Carpenter Co. and SleepBetter.org created from data revealed in its scientific study of college bedding has garnered nearly twenty thousand site visits since launching in mid-summer. The infographics present data from the "Back to College" study in easy to read, highly impactful web graphics. The series, hosted on the sleep advice website SleepBetter.org , has been pushed using social media and has been embraced and shared across social media sites like Twitter, Reddit, Digg.com and especially StumbleUpon.
"Infographics are a growing trend in online media that we wanted to leverage as part of our multi-year campaign to educate America about the importance of sleep," said Dan Schecter, vice president of consumer products at Carpenter Co. and creator of SleepBetter.org. "The scientific study of college bedding, conducted as part of the 'Back to College' campaign, produced huge amounts of data about college students' bedding and this infographic series was the perfect way to present it all in an easily sharable format -- the proof is in all the traffic that it is generating."
The "Back to College" study, the largest bedding research endeavor of its kind, found that college pillows and mattress pads can harbor hundreds of thousands to millions of live yeast, mold and bacterial colonies per product. The results of the study were reported by CNN's Headline News, AOL.com, Glamour.com, Fitness.com, USATODAY.com and many other consumer outlets.
The infographic series can be found on SleepBetter.org on the newly launched sleep research tab. Five infographics have been posted over the past two months and the sixth and final will post in the coming weeks.
