Online PR News – 13-September-2011 – – Dallas, Texas - As funding for higher education decreases in the state of Texas and as tuition continues to increase at a rate much higher than inflation, it has become increasingly important for families to begin planning early for the financial aid process. To assist these families IFAA will be offering free financial aid workshops throughout Texas titled “What You Should Know About Financial Aid Before Your Student Applies to College.” The workshops will cover such topics as developing a financial aid plan, completing all the financial aid forms, reviewing your financial aid awards and preparing your student for college.
“Students from the most recent college graduating class borrowed an average of $24,000 to finance their education,” said Timothy Wall, Managing Partner of IFAA. “It makes sense for families to start planning early for the financial aid process to keep the loan burden as low as possible.”
The first workshop will be offered at the Farmers Branch Manske Library at 10:30 AM on October 1. The presentation is open to the public. It is highly recommended for students and parents to attend. Students as early as the Freshman year of high school are encouraged to attend. Individuals who preregister will be given a financial aid handbook after the presentation. Individuals may preregister at the company’s web site www.achievecollegeaid.com or by calling 800-381-2951 x100. The site provides information and links to services to help with the financial aid process.
The presentation will also cover the use of the “Net Price Calculators” that colleges are required to present on their web sites as of October 29, 2011. These calculators are designed to give a family a realistic picture of what it will cost to attend each college. The presentation will cover the uses and limits of these calculators.
The company is committed to getting information into the public domain that will help families become informed consumers of post-secondary education. An informed consumer is more likely to make the best choices reducing the financial burden of a college education.
