Propane Vehicles Now Offered at Big Valley Ford

Big Valley Ford and ROUSH are working together on a new imitative to offer customers liquid propane fueled vehicles.

Online PR News – 15-September-2011 – – Big Valley Ford, one of Stockton, CA’s largest Ford dealerships is proud to announce their partnership with ROUSH which will allow them to offer new liquid propane fueled vehicles. The use of liquid propane to power cars and trucks is relatively new and thus far hasn’t been widely used. But Big Valley Ford hopes to change that by being one of the firsts to offer propane fueled vehicles commercially.

What makes liquid propane a better fuel source that gas? Why not just offer electric engines or any number of other fuel options that are being explored? There are a few things that make propane the superior fuel source:
• Propane emits 60-70% less hydrocarbons (which create smog) than regular gasoline
• Propane has an octane rating of 104, which puts it well above even premium gasoline which is usually 91 to 92 octane. This allows for higher compression ratios and increased fuel efficiency.
• Propane yields about 12% less carbon dioxide, 20% less nitrous oxide and up to 60% less carbon monoxide that gasoline.

Those are the more technical reasons for using propane. What does all this mean to the everyday person? For starters, propane offers the longest driving range of any alternative fuel – over 250% farther that compress natural gas, 60% farther that methanol and 25% farther than ethanol.

When it comes to performance propane is a leader as well. Propane-powered vehicles offer similar horsepower, torque and towing capacity rating numbers as their gasoline powered counterparts, mean you don’t have to sacrifice fuel savings for performance when it matters most.
