The Walsh Group deploys Salient Systems video for new corporate headquarters. New IP-based system to secure property and assets; rollout to other regional offices planned for the future.
Online PR News – 01-September-2011 – – AUSTIN, TX (Sept. 1, 2011) – The Walsh Group, a Chicago-based general contracting, construction management, and design-build firm, has implemented a brand new IP-based surveillance system at its corporate headquarters with Salient Systems’ VMS at the core and a mix of Axis Communications network cameras. Walsh is recognized as the largest construction firm in Chicago according to Crain’s Chicago Business, as well as one of the nation’s top 20 contractors according to Engineering News-Record. The firm has experience with a wide variety of building, civil and transportation sectors. New corporate headquarters required state of the art security systems with remote viewing capabilities for management. Walsh chose M&R Electronic Systems, a 10 year partner in construction projects, to design and install a comprehensive security solution.
Scott Superfine, Senior Project Manager, at M&R Electronics describes Walsh as a “very progressive user of technology not only for their customers, but also for their corporation”. As a long term subcontractor to Walsh, M&R Electronics approached Walsh and presented a comprehensive security solution utilizing Salient’s CompleteView™ Video Management Systems, Axis Communications network cameras and Continental access control. This end-to-end approach to security took the guess work out of the equation for Walsh and incorporated the best available products in the market for a turnkey solution.
Matt Walsh, Chairman and CEO of The Walsh Group, routinely uses his iPad App for remote viewing for easy access to cameras located throughout the building. “24/7 viewing access to all cameras, including the PTZ cameras located on the rooftop gives me instant information if an event occurs that requires management involvement,” says Walsh. “The flexibility provided by Salient ensures I can manage my business from anywhere at any time.”
“Salient’s VMS offers the perfect solution for our massive corporate structure. We are utilizing AD (Active Directory) functionality for our 15,000 users, and our team now has the ability to see multiple images of our facilities from a single screen in the video client,” explains Jaquelyn Newman, Project Manager for Walsh Construction. “We see several additional uses for video surveillance, primarily in our heavy machinery facilities and regional offices across the country. Salient’s VMS can easily expand as our need for security grows.”
The entire video system is comprised of Axis network cameras, ranging from fixed, fixed dome and pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) dome network cameras. Five HDTV-qualities PTZ dome cameras are positioned on the roof to give Walsh high-detailed situational awareness of the entire property and protect equipment and material assets. The mix of indoor and outdoor-ready models provide features such as Corridor Format, motion and audio detection, tampering alarms and automatic day/night video.
