Online PR News – 05-January-2010 – – Hannah Pressley, a student at East Rowan High School in Salisbury, NC, is active in school sports and other activities. When the yearly fundraisers for equipment and uniforms came around, she thought of family friend Michael Webb, a Salisbury native with a background in product development. Most recently working on a product that first started out as a fix to help NASCAR pit crews and is currently being developed for use in the Military, TXR2 (TXRR) / Hydro Cool. Pressley says, “I once saw a product he developed for advertising in grocery stores. It was a unique handle for plastic bags that he explained would be free to customers because companies like Ocean Spray, Ortega, etc. would pay to advertise. When I approached him with the idea of using these handles for school fundraisers he said yes, but decided to take a little time to improve on his original design.”
The original inexpensive plastic handle was designed to allow shoppers to carry several heavy bags without pinched fingers, or loss of circulation. “This first generation was used as a promotional item and was an immediate success. We circulated several hundred thousand of the plastic handles”, says Webb, “and then I was able to get a meeting with Ralph Ketner, founding partner and former President of Food Lion. Mr. Ketner offered good advice on how to improve on the original design and concept.”
