The roofing project consisted of removal of the existing layers of roof material and wet insulation down to the wood decking, removal of the eight existing skylights, framing the openings and covering the entire roof. The final flat roof project was finalized with a new Carlisle 060 fully adhered EPDM rubber membrane roof system with over 1.5” Polyisocyanurate roof insulation. The overall R-value being 10.0. (The R-value is a measure of thermal resistance used in the building and construction industry. Under uniform conditions it is the ratio of the temperature difference across an insulator and the heat flux (heat flow per unit area), the bigger the number, the better the building insulation's effectiveness. R-value is the reciprocal of U-value.)
Now that the project is completed the Clark Firehouse has a new watertight 15 year warranty membrane roof system and more thermally efficient building.
