Natural High Safaris expands into Botswana offering customers a high quality safari experience.
Online PR News – 31-August-2011 – – Botswana has really come into its own as a safari destination in recent years and it’s easy to understand why. The vast and diverse areas of pristine wilderness and abundant bird and wild life mean that Botswana safaris are now right up there, with other top African safari destinations. However a safari in Botswana can tend to be a bit on the pricey side so Natural High has found some more affordable ways to experience this amazing country.
Unlike some other African safari countries, the development of Botswana’s tourism has been very carefully managed and Botswana safari camps and lodges are small with a minimal number of beds. This careful, low impact tourism means visitors share the wilderness with the few rather than the many, which can be an expensive privilege, but there are some notable exceptions.
In the Okavango Delta, the largest inland delta in the world, Footsteps provide remarkable walking safaris with experienced and knowledgeable guides who lead the way through an endless maze of waterways and small islands. Another affordable way to explore the delta is the Kanana Mokoro trail, drifting quietly along channels in mokoros, the dugouts that have been used by locals for centuries.
As in the delta, Chobe National Park, with its four distinct eco-systems, is renowned for excellent game viewing. One of the largest concentrations of elephants in the world can be found here and a large number of lion, zebra and wildebeest are among the vast array of wildlife. It has to be said that the large amount of game in the park does attract a lot of visitors however Chobe under Canvas, a small, no-frills mobile tented camp, which moves every few days, manages to keep well away from the crowds.
Further south are the extreme environments of the Kalahari Desert and the Makgadikgadi Pans, where mile upon mile of stark moonscape engenders a sense of space quite unlike anywhere else in the world. The wild life is great too if you know where to look and what to look for. Camp Kalahari, is the simpler and more cost-effective sister camp to the outstanding Jack’s Camp, both permanent tented camps situated on the edge of the pans. And if anyone’s into meerkats (and everybody seems to be these days) Camp Kalahari is meerkat central.
