The Cadillac SRX is getting a few upgrades for the 2012 model year, the most interesting of which is the new auto dry brakes.
Online PR News – 01-September-2011 – – The wet weather in Leesburg, Florida can make for some hazardous driving conditions. But Plaza Cadillac is proud to announce the Cadillac’s new auto dry brakes are now available on the 2012 Cadillac SRX.
The popular mid-size crossover will be the first to feature this new technology, created by GM. Drivers can feel safer behind the wheel, no matter how wet the weather is, with the new auto dry brake system, because the system will allow the brakes to perform significantly better on soggy days.
The US Department of Transportation says that 620,000 crashes across the county, one in ten, occur in the rain. “The important thing is to assure the brakes are as dry as possible before the driver applies the brake pedal” said Rand Leek, a General Motors brake development engineer, “We designed this feature to ensure that the brakes provide optimal braking performance while driving in inclement weather.”
The Auto Dry Brakes will work in conjunction with the RainSense windshield wiper system or whenever the wipers are turned on and when the car has been cruising over 20 mph for more than 4 miles without cruise control. The system works by applying a small amount of hydraulic pressure to the vehicles brake calipers at intervals to wipe water from the brake rotors while the car is moving.
