The World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) celebrates 15 years of membership to Occam’s Reciprocate program. The charity joined Reciprocate as one of the original members with the objective of increasing donor acquisitions and maximising the return from its direct mailing campaigns.
Online PR News – 26-May-2009 – – Occam’s unique cooperative solution allows the WCRF to swap its own donor data with other Reciprocate members, enabling the charity to supplement its existing database of 3.5 million records with new, high potential, warm prospects. The fair and equitable exchange of donor data between complementary charities means the WCRF is able to target known donors with the greatest affinity to its own supporter base, giving the best possible response and donation levels.
Occam is also responsible for reawakening lapsed supporter relationships. By comparing the lapsed donor records on WCRF’s database with the live Reciprocate database, the charity is able to identify lapsed supporters who are currently actively supporting other charities. This insight allows the WCRF to prioritise reactivation campaigns, targeting people who are still actively involved in charitable giving and who have previously supported its cause.
Kelly Browning, Chief Financial Officer at the World Cancer Research Fund said: “It is the ongoing generosity of our supporters that enables us to keep funding cutting-edge science into cancer prevention and run key education programmes. As 90% of our funding comes from the general public, it’s important that we continue to pursue innovative ways of increasing our supporter base. We believe that by using Reciprocate we are able to raise awareness of our cause and attract important new donors.”
Scott Logie, Strategy Director at Occam adds: “Designed specifically for the charity sector, Reciprocate is the perfect product to foster new donor relationships and maximise the results of direct mail campaigns. Not only does Reciprocate allow the World Cancer Research Fund to target a rich pool of potential new donors, but it also enables it to do so at a fraction of the price of purchasing cold data lists.”

World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF) raises awareness that cancer is largely preventable and helps people make choices to reduce their chances of developing the disease.
This includes research into how cancer risk is related to diet, physical activity, and weight management, and education programmes that highlight the fact that about a third of cancers could be prevented through changes to lifestyle. For more information on the charity’s work, visit www.wcrf-uk.org
The WCRF report, called Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity, and the Prevention of Cancer: a Global Perspective, was launched in November 2007 and is the most comprehensive report ever published on the link between cancer and lifestyle. For more information, visit www.dietandcancerreport.org
