Leaders in the recently launched Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium welcome its newest member, Quiltcraft Industries.
Online PR News – 23-July-2011 – – Bethesda, MD., July 20, 2011 – Leaders in the recently launched Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium welcome its newest member Quiltcraft Industries, a leading source of draperies, bedding, and wall coverings for the hospitality industry and beyond.
The Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Consortium is a collaboration of industry leaders who produce, research, specify, and purchase furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) and OS&E products for hotels. The Consortium’s mission is to create the Hospitality Sustainable Purchasing Index (HSPI), an industry-wide sustainability performance measurement solution.
HSPI will facilitate purchasing from socially and environmentally responsible companies that produce products to reduce a hotel’s environmental impact, and contribute to guest comfort, health and well-being. The index will help ensure that hotels are built, furnished and operated in ways that benefit guest health and enhance the environment.
“We see sustainability as an important component of our quality, service and commitment to the hospitality industry. Participating in the Consortium will help us understand how to best align our sustainability efforts with the needs of our customers. We look forward to helping in the development of this sustainable measurement framework for FF&E purchasing” said David Pearson, Vice President of Quiltcraft Industries.
Quiltcraft Industries joins existing Consortium members Marriott International, Audit Logistics, Benjamin West, Delta Faucet Company, Innvision, InterfaceFLOR, PE INTERNATIONAL Inc., RTKL, SERA Architects, and Valley Forge Fabrics. The Consortium and development of HSPI are led by MindClick SGM, a leading sustainability consulting and performance measurement firm.
“Quiltcraft already provides the highest levels of quality and service for hotel owners and their guests. They are a welcome group to the Consortium, and their contributions will help us to set the standard for sustainable purchasing,” said Dave Lippert, Vice President -- A&C Procurement of Marriott International.
Beginning with furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), the HSPI will create a repository of supplier performance, including corporate social responsibility, product, and environmental sustainability. MindClick SGM™ and Consortium members will work together to facilitate alignment of HSPI with industry accepted sustainability standards including the LEED® rating system and various product category standards.
