While your legs will always tell you how far you’ve skied after a big day on the mountain, Perisher’s new tracking system

Online PR News – 15-July-2011 – – Perisher Valley, NSW - While your legs will always tell you how far you’ve skied after a big day on the mountain, Perisher’s new tracking system, MyRide Dashboard, will take one huge step further by providing never before available data about your day.

From the number of runs skied to how many vertical metres of terrain you’ve shredded, MyRide Dashboard is already proving to be hugely popular with skiers and snowboarders having already clocked up a combined distance of 26,497 vertical kilometres – further than a return trip from Sydney to Los Angeles!

Drawing data from the resort’s recently introduced MyRide lift ticketing system, guests can log on to the Dashboard on Perisher’s MyRide page ( where an overview of their day on the mountain will be available including the lifts they’ve ridden and percentage of the mountain they’ve accessed as well as an interactive leaderboard that ranks them against other guests at the resort.

MyRide Dashboard developer Stefan Drury from Fly Digital explains how it all works – “The RFID (Radio Frequency Identity) technology in Perisher’s MyRide lift ticketing system is uploaded every 15 minutes directly to the Dashboard, meaning as soon as a guest finishes at Perisher for the day, they’re able to log on and see all their stats, comparing these with their friends and family.”

“Perisher’s opening weekend two weeks ago was the first time guests were introduced to the MyRide Dashboard and we were delighted with how well it has been received,” said Peter Brulisauer, CEO at Perisher.

“Our guests’ friendly competitive natures will be tested with this new technology, I think. Particularly the younger skiers and boarders who, at the end of the season, will have hard figures to show off to their mates about the number of runs they’ve done throughout the winter – the Dashboard will provide the ultimate street cred!”

In the following weeks, resort maps showing where guests have skied will also be added to the Dashboard, as well as adding the MyRide Dashboard to Perisher’s iPhone app and MyRide Dashboard ‘badges’, which can be posted direct to the individual guest’s Facebook wall and appear in their friends’ newsfeeds for additional bragging rights.

Perisher’s MyRide lift ticket system allows skiers and snowboarders to buy lift tickets before they leave home and later reload them at the Perisher MyRide online store. New automated gates have been installed across the majority of Perisher’s 47 lifts to scan MyRide lift tickets without the need to display them outside ski jackets.
