Comedy powerhouse Eddie Griffin forms production company Griffin/Skye Industries; talent, TV, and films set for development.
Online PR News – 11-July-2011 – – Los Angeles, CA – (July 10, 2011) – The comedic icon, actor, writer, director, music aficionado and producer has formed an entertainment company, Griffin/Skye Industries with collaborator Ruben Skye. The new endeavor will seek out, cultivate and place new talent; develop and produce television shows and feature films as well as spearhead an array of intriguing entertainment projects Griffin has been carefully nurturing.
With a thriving stand up career - Griffin is currently on tour both nationally and abroad constantly playing to sold-out crowds approximately 42 weekends per year. This foray into a self-helmed collaboration with co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Ruben Skye, will allow Griffin more creative flexibility while moving him more solidly into the worlds of TV and film.
Griffin had this to say about his newly formed endeavor, “I have been in this business of entertainment for almost three decades now-it is exciting for me to be able to move toward this new chapter of my career.”
Skye added, “With the formation of Griffin/Skye, I look forward to becoming involved with much of the young, untapped talent in Hollywood today. It’s exciting to have the opportunity to work with a Hollywood mainstay like Eddie Griffin – we plan on creating some dynamic projects through this collaboration.”
Projects on slate for Griffin/Skye include a riveting bio-drama based on the life of Oakland Post editor Chauncey Bailey, the first journalist murdered over a domestic story in the U.S. in 2007 because of his reporting on the alleged criminal operations of a suspiciously owned and operated Bakery in Oakland, CA. And, a Griffin penned comedy, in the final stages of funding placement that Griffin hopes to shoot as an indie and tour the festival circuit with.
In terms of talent, Griffin/Skye will pursue above and below the line talent and aspiring musicians. In terms of project types, Griffin is drawn to anything fun, creative or clever, while Skye has his eye on several true-crime dramatic pieces.
