Asia's first 3rd generation robot with simulator launched at Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai

The da vinci surgical robot, though not the first in India, is the most advanced of its kind in Asia. With an attached simulator, the robot will establish Asian Vattikutti's position as Asias premier hospital for robotic training.

Dr.Ramakanta Panda, Vice Chairman Asian heart Institute, popularly known as the PMs surgeon, unveiled the continents most advanced robot for minimally invasive surgery, along with Dr.Raj Vatikutty. At the launch of the Asian Vatikutty Centre For Robot-Assisted Surgery; a potential training centre for robot-assisted surgery in Asia, Dr.Panda expressed his gratitude to Dr.Vatikutty for the association and said, "This new institute will offer the most advanced robotic surgery for multidisciplines such as Cardio thoracic, urology, gynecology, ENT and oncology."
Set up with the most advanced robotic surgery systems from Intuitive Surgicals, the third generation 'da Vinci Si' series of computer assisted robotic surgery system with simulator is the first and best of its kind in Asia.
Four surgeons of Asian heart Institute have already undergone training in France at IRCAD, Strasbourg.They include Dr.Pranav Kandachar, Dr.Pradyoth Kumar Rath, Dr. Ramakanta Panda and Dr.Manoranjan Mishra.
Then Dr.Mishra and Dr.Panda proceeded to Wellington Hospital UK for practical robot assisted surgery.
Another set of four doctors, including Dr.Sunil Vanzara and four undisclosed names are set to travel in the second batch.
