College Grads That Have Internship Experience Have a Good Shot at Future Jobs

Internship Placement Service Provider, USAIntern.com explains that hiring is on the rise and internships provide the opportunity for graduates to get their foot in the door.

Online PR News – 13-June-2011 – New York, New York – According to Chanin Coyle, President of USAIntern, LLC (www.usaintern.com), an online leader in internship placement services throughout the United States, a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that businesses across the country plan to hire 19.3 percent more graduates this year than they did last year, marking the first time since 2007 that employers reported a double-digit increase in hiring projections for the spring.

“The survey showed that some of the most promising fields for the class of 2011 are in oil/gas extraction, pharmaceutical manufacturing, computer/electronics manufacturing, finance, insurance and real estate,” said Coyle. “The most in-demand employees, the survey noted, are those who graduated with degrees in engineering and business.”

For many of the graduates finding work, however, Coyle says that participating in an internship is critical, even when hiring figures are up.

“College students who want to make a good impression in the job market should begin looking for internships no later than the first semester of their sophomore year of college,” says Coyle. “Without question, an internship will help you get hired after you graduate.”

For students struggling to find jobs and internships, Coyle suggests choosing a major that matches their passion, but says to complement it with a minor or concentration that is an in-demand skill. She also suggests that college graduates visit a career services professional to have their resume reviewed.

“The bottom line is that candidates that have experience will have an easier time finding a job,” says Coyle. “Internships provide that necessary experience.”
