Textile Center and Surface Design Association Present Weekend Art Events in Twin Cities

Accompanying international conference will be a multitude of textile-related events open to public

Online PR News – 12-June-2011 – – MINNEAPOLIS—Textile Center is hosting the 2011 International Surface Design Association Conference, Confluence, this week. The international event takes place once every two years, with this year’s location in Minneapolis-St. Paul. Conference events started Saturday, June 4 and run through Saturday, June 17.

“Textile Center is an international resource for fiber art,” said Margaret Miller, executive director of Textile Center. “We are honored to serve as the host community for this exceptional gathering of fiber artists from around the world and are eager to introduce them to our region’s rich cultural resources.”

Along with Textile Center, more than 25 local galleries and art centers are hosting exhibitions in participation with the conference. Other weekend events open to the public include:

Friday, June 10:
• Unraveled DIY Festival: outdoor gallery, yarn bombing, raffle, music and more
• Trunk Show: an exhibition and sale of conference member created items
• Vendor Fair: nearly 30 vendors who have sourced items from around the world
• Movie Night: Handmade Nation and Woven Lives: Contemporary Textiles from Ancient Oaxacan Traditions
• And more

Saturday, June 11:
• Vendor Fair: nearly 30 vendors who have sourced items from around the world
• Fashion Show: Bodies of Water
• And more

Sunday, June 12:
• Vendor Fair: nearly 30 vendors who have sourced items from around the world
