The 2011 Run Auckland Series is a 6-part race that has been going steady since 27th March of this year. This race will consist of a series of fun runs and walks through a variety of scenic and adventurous locations throughout Auckland.
Online PR News – 07-June-2011 – – Each race varies in distance from five to ten kilometres, and is either a running or a walking race. The Run Auckland Series has been created as a way to motivate and inspire locals to achieve their fitness goals. It also encourages people to utilise some of the great running locations that the city of Auckland has to offer.
There are several race divisions including the Schools Cup, the Family Teams Cup, the Run Auckland Corporate Teams Cup, and the Running Club Cup. All cups will be presented at the completion of the series to the leading teams. Run Auckland trophies will also be awarded to the winners from each of the ten age groups, for both men and women.
The races begin at Botnay Junction on 10th July from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. The cost is NZ$35.00 for a single race purchased before Friday at 5:00 pm, or NZ$40.00 for a single race on race day. This is an all ages’ race.
This race was initiated when a New Zealand Sport and Activity survey found that only 34 per cent of Auckland adults exercise more than 30 minutes, five times a week. It also found that more than half of the population had gained more than 10 kg since they were 18 years of age.
