Microsoft Student Partners of Lovely Professional University hosted the Microsoft Dream Spark Yatra at Shri Baldev Raj Memorial Auditorium of the University. More than one thousand students participated in two sessions, arranged throughout the day, and experienced the latest trends in technology.

More than one thousand students participated in two sessions, arranged throughout the day, and experienced the latest trends in technology. The Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Programme Specialist of Microsoft, Mr Abhishek Baxi, visited LPU to apprise students of the latest technologies related to Windows Phone 7 and its application development.
On this occasion, the Chancellor of the University, Mr Ashok Mittal said: “Through this initiative, our all the students, having special passion for technology, will be empowered with the latest trends in the software industry.” He also said: “The different departments of the University are always on the alert to let the students grab each and every opportunity of importance for their career and development.” He further added: “Our aim is always to broaden the technical horizon of the students and project them globally, fully embedded with perfect skills of all kinds.”
According to Mr Baxi:"The Dream Spark Yatra is a Microsoft initiative, aimed at driving wide-spread awareness and enthusiasm, among students, for the latest innovations and technology." It was also informed: “The ‘Yatra’ is specially planned for LPU so that it may reach out to the maximum number of students. We knew before hand that here are more than 25,000 students of different professional programmes, under single roof.” Under this organization, topics such as Windows Phone 7 App Development using Visual Studio 2010, Windows Phone Emulator and Windows Programming were elaborated well to the students.
In fact, “Yatra” is about sparking new hope, ideas and innovation in young minds. It is also a forum that helps students decide what their career path could be. The first session highlighted the latest technologies, soft-wares; whereas, the second one was about Microsoft academic programmes for students. A few of the student participants said: “The session was highly informative and left a pre-eminent notion in our minds about the new technologies. It also let us well-abreast with the staunch hold of the same in the market.”
