Preparations are underway for the 50th anniversary of Grand Haven’s signature summer art event scheduled for June 25 - 26, 2011. Washington Avenue will be transformed into a first class outdoor art gallery featuring the work of 150 of the nation’s leading artists as well as top local talent. This two day art extravaganza appeals to people of all ages including art enthusiasts, collectors looking to add to their collections and even the younger crowd with its Family Fun Day, offering art and craft activities for children. In addition, a Green Market will feature exotic quality flowers, plants and gourmet items. Admission and parking are free and open to the public.

A myriad of art mediums and talent has defined this popular juried art festival that draws locals and tourists alike. Festival goers will be treated to bold, bright and even whimsical original works of art including paintings, life size sculptures, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and ceramics. Prices are set to suit all budgets and range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $30,000 metal sculptures.

“This is an ideal opportunity to explore the work of many different artists in one setting,” says festival promoter Howard Alan. “Festival goers are able to make that personal connection with the artist which makes their investment and purchases more meaningful.”

The Chamber of Commerce of Grand Haven, Spring Lake Ferrysburg is partnering with the Main Street DDA and local merchants to host Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 25th, offering interactive art activities for young festival goers.

The artists, juried by an independent panel of expert judges, are hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of their artwork is original and handmade in America. Howard Alan Events stipulates that all artists are required to be on site for the duration of the show. The public can meet and talk with the artists personally about their art and inspiration.
