Each year, Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal honors 100 Silicon Valley businesswomen as Women of Influence, who are nominated by their peers and chosen by a selection panel of previous Women of Influence. Awardees were selected on success in their industries, as well as contributions to their communities, and were honored at a special awards ceremony.
With over 17 years of experience, Thockchom is a high-tech engineering and marketing veteran. Prior to Gale, she was the COO and GM, Virtualization and Infrastructure Segments, at Zeenova, a consultancy for technical marketing, product marketing, and channel enablement services for products in the enterprise market. Formerly, Thockchom was the group manager of partner solutions marketing at VMware and responsible for overseeing VMware's partner solutions in the networking, management, high-availability and security technology areas. While at VMware, Thockchom was instrumental in delivering key solutions with Cisco, HP Software, CA, Symantec, McAfee and 300-plus technology partners. Prior to joining VMware, she was the group manager of product management for the Sun Cluster and N1 product lines at Sun Microsystems, where she oversaw the growth of the business from $25M to $70M by expanding the feature set of the nine-plus products and by tapping into additional markets.
Thockchomis a volunteer with TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs), the Indus Women Leaders and the India Community Center. In 2010, while working as the chair of marketing at TiEcon, a conference that celebrates the passion and the perseverance of entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley and around the world, she set record attendance for the show. Thockchom received her M.S. in computer engineering and B.S. in electronics engineering at the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering in Bangalore, India.
