Nick Matthew of England today takes on Ramy Ashour of Egypt in the final of the PSA Masters squash tournament being held in Mumbai, India.
Online PR News – 10-December-2009 – – If this final is anything like the last match between these two players then we are in for a classic. They last met at the North American Squash Open in Richmond, Virginia and the match went the full distance, with Ashour edging it in the end.
This time round, both players have had tough semi-final matches to come through, but neither semi-final lasted too long, meaning that both players shouldn’t be overly fatigued. Matthew possibly has the slight advantage having not dropped a game on his way to the final, whilst Ashour had to battle past David Palmer in five sets.
The match is to be played at 18:30pm local time (13:00pm GMT). You can watch it live at psalive.tv.
Squash World Number One
The calculations are complex and predicting who will begin the new year as squash world number one is hard to tell given the proximity of the world top four squash players, but Nick Matthew has given himself a fighting chance. The matter won’t be decided until the latter stages of the Saudi Squash Open, but the Englishman’s chances of being squash world number one have been enhanced in this PSA masters tournament with the withdrawal of Karim Darwish, the early exit of Gregory Gaultier and the elimination of Shabana in the semis.
