Online PR News – 25-May-2011 – – With summer just around the corner, a good supply of crisp, white New Zealand wine is essential. with which to toast lighter nights Refreshing and flavoursome, New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc traditionally sees sales soaring at this time of year as summer garden parties, BBQs and wedding receptions seek out the perfect beverage, lighter bites and the advent of long, lazy days.
Seduced by its striking, uplifting aromas and a weighty, chalky texture, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc is regularly named the benchmark against which other New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs are measured. The 2010 vintage is now available from New Zealand Wine specialists, The New Zealand House of Wine.
Cloudy Bay is one of the Marlborough region’s of most famous and highly acclaimed wine producers, having bottled its first commercial vintage in 1985 from purchased grapes. Since then it has gone on to plant its own vineyards, led by freethinkers who constantly search for the latest, most interesting styles and ideas.
The Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is produced from fruit that has been grown in one of the best known wine regions in New Zealand and in the best possible conditions for its green-skinned, flavoursome grapes. The intense fruity notes of Cloudy Bay’s signature Sauvignon Blanc are achieved by using vines planted in stony, free-draining soils. The grapes are nourished by a unique terroir and cooled by a fresh South Pacific breeze.
This New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is particularly distinctive for its vibrant and intense – yet uplifting – aromas. These include grapefruit, ripe lime, papaya, mango and nectarine in addition to floral notes of gooseberry, sweet fennel and orange blossom. Its chalky, weighty texture is counteracted by a backbone of minerally-citrus acid, which has been achieved with a small portion of barrel ferment and by subtly using solids during the fermentation process. The end result is a wine that is fleshy, focused and refined and that also has elegant line and length.
The grower and estate vineyards from which the grapes for the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010 were sourced are to be found in the heart of Marlborough in the Wairau Valley sub-regions of Rapaura, Fairhall, Brancott and Renwick. The grapes were harvested in these locations from 24th March, with a combination of the stable autumn climate and stringent yield management ensuring that the flavours and fresh acid level hallmarks of the Cloudy Bay vintage were achieved in every block.
Now on special offer at The New Zealand House of Wine, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is available in one, two, three, six and twelve bottle packs. It is priced at £20.39 or, £16.99 with the purchase of two or more bottles.
