Online PR News – 17-May-2011 – – Thanks, Palm Coast, For Helping Take Care Of Your Community

As anticipated, the City’s May 7th Arbor Day event resulted in so many worthwhile outcomes. Members of this community took the event theme to heart . . .’Feed a Mouth….Get A Tree….Grow a Community’ came to life in Central Park.

Exchanging food items for free trees was extremely successful. Palm Coast residents donated over 1,820 pounds of corn, peas, green beans, rice, fruit cocktail, cereal, pork ‘n beans, cat and dog food, tomato sauce, pasta, soup and pop tarts. According to the Grace Community Church Food Bank officials, these food donations will feed 101 four-person families for two weeks.

One youngster also benefitted from Saturday’s Arbor Day event. The http://www.visitflagler.org/ raised enough money at the event’s Sand Art activity to send one child to our summer camp program. Additionally, the Flagler County Youth Center collected $385 to help revitalize the Carver Gymnasium and Youth Center.

What could be better than enjoying a beautiful sunny day in a magnificent park sharing a green celebration? Assuring fellow community members are thriving is what comes to mind.

Thank you, Palm Coast, for your generous canned good donations. We look forward to Arbor Day, 2012.
